| THEN: The term “booze fighter,” originated before the turn of the 20th Century and was slang to describe a man fighting the bottle, an alcoholic. Founded in 1946 by “Wino” Willie Forkner and a group of WWII vets, the Boozefighters is a club based on motorcycle racing, brotherhood, and riding with a healthy dose of drinking thrown in for good measure. The Boozefighters came to national prominence in 1947 because a racing event held in the farming town of Hollister, CA. In 1953, that event would be immortalized by Marlon Brando on the silver screen and would forever etch the image of the biker on the American psyche. NOW: Today, the Boozefighters Motorcycle Club is one of the oldest active motorcycle clubs in existence. The BFMC believes in respecting the rights of all members of the community and peaceful co-existence with all other motorcycle clubs. The BFMC has stood the test of time. The organization continues to grow and with several overseas chapters, today we are truly an International Organization. |
